Since July 2025, Florida has a criminal speed. Find the line.

House Bill 351 created section 316.1922: 50 mph or more over the limit — or 100+ mph driven dangerously — is now a crime with jail exposure, not a ticket you mail in. Below that, 30-over still drags you into a mandatory hearing. Enter your numbers. Ch. 2025-77, Laws of Fla.

What was the posted limit?

70 MPH

  • 50+ over, or 100+ mph driven in a manner that threatens people, property, or other vehicles: dangerous excessive speeding under § 316.1922. First offense up to 30 days/$500; second up to 90 days/$1,000, with a 180-day-to-1-year revocation if it repeats within 5 years. Ch. 2025-77
  • 30+ over: still civil, but § 318.19 requires a mandatory court hearing — paying online is off the menu. Ch. 2025-77, § 3
  • Under 30 over: standard citation — 3 points at 15-or-under, 4 points above 15, fine per the county schedule printed on the citation. Run your points against the suspension thresholds with the Florida points calculator. F.S. § 322.27
