County record · checked October 2, 2026
The Going Rate
Search “how much is a speeding ticket” and you get the statutory range — a fine before court costs, quoted statewide, useless for the piece of paper in your hand. The actual number is set county by county, and it lives in fine schedules most sites never open. This page quotes those documents directly: the out-the-window amount, from the county court’s own publication, with the source linked on every county — and where a county publishes nothing, that fact is recorded too, because it changes what you have to do next.
Ten mph over: $169 in Houston, $215 in San Antonio — same state, $46 apart.
Florida runs the same experiment with the opposite result: the statewide base keeps Miami-Dade ($219) and Palm Beach ($206) within $13 of each other at 10 over — the spread lives in the county surcharges. Texas counties, each setting fine plus costs, drift much further apart.
Texas
Class C misdemeanor · amounts are fine + court costs where published
Harris County (Houston)
VERIFIEDEffective Jan 1, 2020Total due — the column is labeled “Amount Due (Fine + Cost)”
Zones: Construction zone: the notice says call the court.
The county site still hosts a 2008 schedule with lower numbers; the 2020 notice is the controlling document.
Bexar County (San Antonio)
VERIFIEDTotals — companion page confirms amounts “include mandatory state and county court costs”
Zones: School zone $359; construction zone with workers present, all fines double.
The county page carries no effective date.
Tarrant County (Fort Worth)
DATEDDocument dated Aug 18, 2015$5 per mph fine plus roughly $98–100 in costs; the guide’s own worked examples
Zones: School zone adds a $25 municipal court cost; construction-zone fine range doubles.
Predates the 2020 statewide court-cost restructuring — treat as the shape of the bill, and call the precinct to confirm today’s costs.
Travis County (Austin)
FORMULA ONLY$10 per mph over, plus court costs — and the county publishes the formula but not the court-cost dollar figure, so no out-the-window total can be quoted. School zone: $20 per mph. Over 94 mph or construction zone: call the court.
Dallas County
NOT PUBLISHEDNo speeding fine schedule exists anywhere on dallascounty.org — every JP precinct page, the payment portal, and site search checked. Fines are set per precinct; the only published figures are course costs ($146, $171 school zone, JP 3-1, 2021). The attorney-site bracket tables circulating for Dallas cite no official source.
A Texas number is only half the story: the dismissal course and deferred disposition can keep the conviction — and the insurance hit — off your record entirely. Those plays are the Texas page’s job.
Florida
Civil infraction · statewide base + county surcharges · paid within 30 days
Miami-Dade County
VERIFIEDBrochure rev. Feb 2026Civil penalty paid within 30 days; add $16 after
Zones: School/construction zones double the bracket: $169 at 1–9 up to $619 at 30+.
1–5 over is a warning bracket. Many third-party sites quote the traffic-school election column as “the fine” — it isn’t.
Palm Beach County
VERIFIEDCivil penalty per the Clerk’s published schedule
Zones: School/construction (workers present): $156 at 1–9 rising to $606 at 30+.
The Clerk’s site blocks automated access, so these amounts were verified against an August 2026 archived capture of this exact page.
Broward County
COMPUTEDComputed: statewide base + the surcharges Broward's own budget confirms it adopted
The Clerk publishes no schedule, so these are computed from the adopted components — one $2 statutory piece couldn't be confirmed, so a total may read $2 lower. The amount on your citation controls; (954) 831-6565 settles it.

Hillsborough County (Tampa)
COMPUTEDComputed: statewide base + the county's adopted surcharges (Code §18-123, raised to $30 in 2019)
Identical totals to Palm Beach — same adopted components. The Clerk itself warns the ticket-face amount “may not be the actual amount owed,” so confirm in the portal before paying. Older $118/$193 figures floating around predate the 2019 surcharge increase.

Orange County (Orlando)
COMPUTEDComputed: statewide base + Orange's adopted surcharges, anchored to its own published camera amounts
Two dollars cheaper than Palm Beach at every bracket — Orange skipped one optional $2 surcharge. The county's own camera-ticket figures pin the math; the citation still controls.

California
One statewide schedule · total bail = fine + assessments + fees · 2026 edition
California is the anti-Texas: the Judicial Council prices speeding statewide — $234 at 1–15 over, $363 at 16–25, $486 at 26+, $896 at 100+ mph — and counties mostly just point at it. The spread here isn’t dollars, it’s housekeeping: which edition a county posts, and San Diego’s own rule for triple-digit speed.
Los Angeles County
VERIFIEDEffective Jan 1, 2026Total bail — base fine + penalty assessments + fees, per the court’s schedule
Zones: Red light (VC 21453(a)): $486. School zones price off the same speed chart.
LA adopts the statewide Judicial Council schedule by reference — an LA ticket and a Fresno ticket cost the same.
San Diego County
VERIFIEDEffective Jan 1, 2026Total bail per the court’s own 2026 schedule
Zones: 100+ mph repeats escalate: $750 second, $1,000 third.
Matches the statewide chart except 100+ mph, where San Diego swaps the $896 bail for a lower deposit plus a required court date.
Orange County, CA
VERIFIEDStatewide Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedule totals apply
Publishes no county schedule of its own — the traffic page points straight at the statewide document.
OC Superior Court traffic finesUniform Bail & Penalty Schedule 2026 (PDF)
Riverside County
DATEDStatewide schedule applies — but the court posts the 2021 edition
The court links a five-year-old copy of the statewide schedule — $4 high on every row since a state fee was repealed. Current law is the 2026 edition.
San Bernardino County
VERIFIEDStatewide Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedule totals apply
Hosts the current statewide schedule on its own traffic page — the cleanest pointer of the five.
California’s counterweight is traffic school masking the conviction from insurers, and trial by written declaration — both on the California page.
Georgia
No statewide schedule · county courts only · city tickets price differently
Georgia is the wildest spread in the record: 11–14 over is $141 in Cobb and $250 in Fulton, neighboring counties in the same metro. Two things ride on top everywhere: the state’s separate $200 Super Speeder fee (75+ on a two-lane, 85+ anywhere), and the caveat that a ticket from a city officer goes to that city’s municipal court on yet another schedule.
Cobb County
VERIFIEDCitations on or after Jul 1, 2024Total payable — the bond order itemizes fine + statutory surcharges
Zones: 31+ over is not payable — court appearance. No school-zone speeding line in the payable order, which implies a court date there too.
Covers unincorporated Cobb — city police tickets go to that city’s municipal court. Under 21 at 24+ over must appear.
Fulton County (Atlanta)
DATEDSchedule revised March 2016 — still the court’s posted documentTotal pre-court amount; the schedule says all fines include a 35–40% surcharge
Zones: School/construction zones run roughly $105 higher per bracket ($225–$555). 31+ over: court only.
A decade old but still what the court posts — call (404) 612-5085 before treating a bracket as today’s number. Atlanta PD tickets go to Atlanta Municipal Court instead.
Gwinnett County
LOOKUP ONLYNo schedule is published anywhere on the court’s site — amounts exist per citation only, via the portal or 1-877-794-0988.
DeKalb County
NOT PUBLISHEDThe old Recorder’s Court dissolved into State Court in 2015 and no schedule survived the move — the site gives structure only ($1,000 max, ~35%+ surcharges, $25 court costs). It is, however, the only county of these five that plainly explains the separate $200 Super Speeder fee.
Chatham County (Savannah)
NOT PUBLISHEDAmounts by phone only (“call the Clerk’s Office”). What it does publish: mandatory court appearance at 35+ over, or 30+ in a school or work zone.
Georgia’s points, Super Speeder mechanics, and the under-21 rules live on the Georgia page.
How this record is built
Every amount was transcribed from an official county document — a Justice of the Peace fine notice, a Clerk of Court fee schedule — and every URL was fetched and confirmed live on October 2, 2026. Third-party and law-firm numbers were rejected on principle. Where a Florida county publishes no schedule, the total is COMPUTED instead: the statewide components of F.S. 318.18 plus the surcharges that county has actually adopted, each cited — a model validated by reproducing Miami-Dade and Palm Beach’s published schedules to the dollar before being applied anywhere else. Counties that publish nothing and resist computation stay listed as exactly that. Fine schedules change; if a county document supersedes what’s here, the correction ships fast — record@ticketverdict.com. This page reports published amounts; it is not legal advice, and the number on your citation controls.
